How To Make Your Own Affirmations

You may have used affirmations before, writing positive statements on cards and repeating them every day. Hopefully you stuck it out and got the results that you wanted. More often, we find it hard to take the time to read them every day, and without that constant repetition, we don't get the effect intended. That is why affirmation CDs and audios have become so popular.

The idea makes sense to anyone who has noted how depressed they get when they repeat certain thoughts or say certain things over and over. If repeating negative thoughts and beliefs "works" to produce a negative state, why wouldn't positive affirmations work as well? And with a CD, it doesn't even take time as with written affirmations. Just push that play button and go about your business while constant repetitions reprogram your mind for success.

But what if you don't like the affirmations that you hear on the popular CDs? What if you don't want to spend the money to buy eight different ones for eight issues you are working on? Why not make your own? Use a tape player, or get a microphone for your computer and make a CD. Then follow the guideline below.

Rules For Making Affirmations

There are a couple "rules" for making good affirmations that are likely to affect your mind. The first is to keep statements in the positive form. Say, "I don't bite my nails," and your unconscious mind - which has a hard time with negatively stated instructions - may take it as "bite my nails." Instead you would say something like, "I take care of my nails with a nail clipper and nail file."

The second rule for making affirmations that work is to use repetition. This means not only listening to your CD as often as you can (and at least once per day for three weeks), but also repeating the statements several times each on the recording. A little trick to make them even more powerful, is to use inflection with each repetition to create a slightly different meaning. For example:

I create my future with the actions I take now. (The basic belief you want to program in your mind.)

I CREATE my future with the actions I take now. (Emphasizing that your future is created, and doesn't just happen.)

I create MY future with the actions I take now. (Emphasizing that it is your future.)

I create my future with the ACTIONS I take now. (Emphasizing that your actions are what matter in creating your future.)

A final "rule:" Stick to one area at a time. Don't try to work on losing weight, motivation, quitting smoking and making money all at once. Start with a clear goal, such as "Improving my relationships," and make a CD for that purpose. Listen to that for several weeks before starting the second one.

Make positive statements. Repeat them several times. Use inflection to "squeeze" the most meaning out of each statement. Finally, listen to them often and consistently. That is how to make and use your own affirmations.

Mental Resistance Training: In Progress

I'm going to begin with a few confessions:
I have started an exercise routine and quit before it became routine.
I have began learning a new skill and given up within just a few days... and a few hours.
I have considered making positive changes in my life and never even started the process.

Why?
The biggest obstacle is often not the task.
Most of the time it is myself; my internal resistance to change - a self-sabotaging comfort-zone.

So how do I get past this obstacle? Or rather, how do I knock it down and stomp on it?
There is so much information available on the subject that it's all too easy to get caught up on the details. In fact after reading about everything involved in setting perfect goals and trying to implement the methods I've just about lost my drive to make the change. I mean if just setting the goal is that much work I can't imagine how much effort this task is going to require. So here's my personal technique and philosophy...

I used to call it "work in progress" but "work" has such an awful association that it's just "in progress" now.
The idea behind my "in progress" philosophy is breaking free of the need for completion. When it comes to personal development I believe in progress during the process and never necessarily a "finished product." Striving for a deadline or completion date just adds unnecessary pressure and often yields rushed results, if any results at all.

These are my instructions to myself. You may use them, adjust them, laugh at them or forget them at your leisure...

Writing goals - in progress.
You know what? You're not writing a legally binding document. You're not writing the constitution. You're not writing professional copyright. It's just a goal. Write it in crayon on a napkin (don't lose the napkin). Write it in a journal, write it in calligraphy on parchment if you like but just write it down. That's all. Seriously. Don't worry about writing the perfect goal. Relax. Write, "increase daily happiness." Guess what? You're allowed to add more goals, change the goals, revise the goals, add details or scratch out goals at any time. The only reason you need to write it down is because your brain is more unorganized than your desk (and that's quite an achievement). If you feel like adding more you can write the "why" next to the goal, but don't worry about it.

Action plan - in progress.
You can't get out of the middle of a desert by standing still. You don't have to pick the fastest way out of the desert, just pick a direction and start walking. You can always revise the plan. The only commitment at this point is to yourself. You can bail out of any plan for a different and hopefully better plan at any time. Relax. You don't know how far you are from leaving the desert so you may as well enjoy the mirages.

Defeating resistance - in progress.
Ok so you get distracted. Often. You probably even forget to look at your goals, much less accomplish the action plan. That's ok. You're in progress. Despite how it feels sometimes, you're not pushing a car uphill only to be squished the moment you stop pushing. Even once you've formed a daily habit of reviewing your goals and keeping track of your action plan you'll probably miss a few days. Relax. This isn't designed to take over your life or your free time. Have a little fun, allow yourself to laugh at some mistakes and keep moving.

Don't get caught up in the details. It's so easy to get wrapped up in writing the perfect goals, staying focused, never missing a day in my journal, being positive every second of every day, stress management... the list goes on. That's all great information but sometimes it just becomes a way to measure failure or induce guilt. It's just information. Use it if it's natural and comfortable, throw it away if it's not.

The real goal is you.
You are deserving, worthy, and valuable beyond measure.

How To Make Your Affirmations Work For You And How You Can Trick Your Subconscious Mind..

The truth is, if you are saying something for a long enough time, eventually your mind will believe it. But you never know how long it may take. It all depends on past conditioning and the contradictory beliefs that were implanted in your mind. If those contradictory beliefs are strong enough, it may take a very long time to break that barrier with your affirmations.

There are some tricks you can use to convince your mind and to get it to believe and act upon your affirmations faster.

Instead of simply stating--ask

We all know the conventional way to do affirmations--state in a positive form and in present tense what it is you want. But instead you can ask a question. Instead of stating “I am a millionaire”, ask “why am I a millionaire?”

Why do you think asking questions works much better? Simply because when you are just stating something, your mind is looking for proof of it. When you say “ I am a millionaire”, your mind automatically says “no you are not, I don’t see the proof”. But when you are asking “why am I a millionaire?” your mind looks for answers to the question rather than looking for proof.

The subconscious mind loves questions, and loves finding answers, so it shifts its focus from looking for proof to answering the question. And while answering the question, it believes that you are in fact a millionaire, it just has to find an answer why.

Use the word “choose”

That is another great way of making your affirmations work quicker and making your mind believe in them. Use the word “choose”. Instead of saying “I am a millionaire”, say “I choose to be a millionaire.”
“I choose” is much more believable and will make your mind act on your affirmations faster.

Those are two great ways of making your affirmations work for you and making your mind believe them and act upon them.

sharing experience on:

1. Positive Attitude Tip #1--Affirmations

when i was a student, many things can be a caused of a bad motivation.
then... i started to remind my self to have such a positive attitude by making a bookmark holders in many books.

These are my favorites quotes:

"where there is a will there is a way"

"reach for the moon, even if you miss you will be among the stars"

"i can make it... i can make it... i can make it"

You just feel those like the others words, ordinary, simple and has no influence to you???
It is time to negotiate with your heart. Practice this at the mirror:

1. Choose one quote that you want to apply as your positive attitude
2. Find a mirror and say the quote in front of it
3. Tell to your self in the mirror, why you want it, the purpose, the benefit
4. Tell to your self, that you should start from this time to apply that purpose
5. Warn your self that if you do not start now, you will be left by the time
6. Reward your self if you can apply that you will get this and this
7. Start now

Start with this: Practice Positive Attitude

Need some positive attitude tips to help you get back on the right track? These tips are guaranteed to reframe what’s important to you and make you feel good about yourself. Practice using them and you’ll find yourself with a great habit that just might change your life…for good!

Positive Attitude Tip #1--Affirmations
Put relevant affirmations in strategic places you’ll see throughout your day (computer screen, bathroom mirror, steering wheel, fridge). Often it takes a bit of time to allow affirmations to be absorbed—that’s OK. Most of us have pretty tough walls up in some areas and have a hard time opening the gate for such strong and positive statements aimed at ourselves. With practice, affirmation statements can be a one of the cheapest, easiest, and most effective ways to boost your attitude and self concept!

Positive Attitude Tip #2--Pre-Meditated Acts of Kindness
Random Acts of Kindness are wonderful—but sometimes we need to plan our generosity so we can ensure it doesn’t get overlooked on a busy day. And doing for others is one of the best ways to improve your immediate attitude and your overall mindset. So plan to be a bighearted driver (allowing others to merge), a considerate co-worker (sending a quick email of appreciation), or a thoughtful citizen (pay for the coffee of the person behind you at Starbucks). I guarantee that planning your acts of kindness, no matter how small, will give you a boost like nothing else!

Positive Attitude Tip #3--Special Indulgence
Do something special for yourself. A fancy coffee drink, a lunch-hour walk, a snuggly movie with the kids, window shopping through your favorite stores—something that’s a little special and a little out of the ordinary. The change of pace and the sense that you’re getting a little something extra will send the endorphins your way.

Positive Attitude Tip #4--Appreciate your Bounty
Identify something you really appreciate—your loyal spouse, a steady job, a healthy family, a good education, thoughtful friends, a winning sports team, upcoming vacation days, food in the fridge, a clean living room, winning a raffle—write it down and display it. It’s easy to forget how many wonderful things we have in our lives so take time to name and appreciate your blessings and feel positively thankful.

Positive Attitude Tip #5--Recognize and Reflect on Your Strengths
You’ve got some amazing qualities that probably get lost in the shuffle sometimes. Think about the traits you embody that have gotten you this far. The traits that have helped you through challenges. The traits that your family appreciates. The traits that make you successful. The traits that you, and others, love and like. Give yourself credit for the positive characteristics that make you a unique and radiant woman and celebrate them!!
